How can we use storytelling to decolonise the minds of our societies? These workshops will give unique insights into various approaches, shed light on new and upcoming projects, and offer participants the space to work with experts on content.

10.30am–12.30pm Creating Urgency: Political Advocacy – Leslie Thomas & Zanele Mthembu

Director, producer and creative mind Leslie Thomas will work with you on strategies to reach decision-makers and make them listen. She is a force to be reckoned with and knows just how to reach the powerful and urge them into action by making use of excellent storytelling.

1.00pm–3.00pm Audience Development – How to Reach People with Your Story – Ines Kratzmüller and Paul Rieth

Ines Kaizik-Kratzmüller and Paul Rieth will offer participants insights in how to analyse their audiences and teach them methods to actually reach the desired audience. Sometimes you have to take the road less travelled to do so and think outside of the box.

3.30pm–5.30pm How to Tell a Better* Story from Humanitarian Crises – Josephine Schmidt & Martina Dase

* By better, we mean stories that shift the power of the journalist or storyteller toward those who are sharing their stories; that recognize the hopes, ideas and abilities. A workshop led by  Josephine Schmidt (Executive Editor, The New Humanitarian) & Martina Dase (Director of Media & Strategic Communications at Save the Children Germany).
