From Colonial Past to Climate Challenges: A Cinematic Journey Through Global Ties

The film series by Aktion gegen den Hunger (Action Against Hunger) covers a range of topics from food security (‘Holy Shit’) to climate justice (‘Between the Rains’) and decolonisation (‘Colette and Justin’), mirroring the full spectrum of the organisation’s humanitarian and developmental work. ‘With our film selection, we aim to shed light on global interconnections – for instance, these films illustrate that there’s a direct link between European colonial history and our current system of humanitarian aid. At the same time, people in the Global South are being especially hard hit by the consequences of climate change due to our standard of living in the Global North,’ says Jan Sebastian Friedrich-Rust, Managing Director of Aktion gegen den Hunger and founder of the HRFFB.
