SOS Humanity
SOS Humanity is a German maritime rescue organisation that uses its ship, the Humanity 1, to rescue people who find themselves in distress whilst fleeing across the Mediterranean. Since 2014, at least 20,200 people have lost their lives on this dangerous crossing – whilst the EU is planning new border closure measures instead of a sea rescue programme. With the petition “SOS in the Mediterranean”, SOS Humanity is calling on the German government to honour its promise.
