Aktion gegen den Hunger
Aktion gegen den Hunger (Action against Hunger) is a global humanitarian organization with more than 7.900 employees. We take decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger. We save the lives of malnourished children. We ensure families can access clean water, food, training, and health care.
We enable entire communities to be free from poverty and hunger. We work across 50 countries, assisting more than 20 million people.
Why we launched a Human Rights Film Festival?
To inspire people and bring about sustainable change in thinking and acting – with this goal in mind, we founded the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin. The first edition of our festival was a great success – with more than half of the screenings sold out.
We were overwhelmed by the tremendous interest and consistently positive feedback from our Berlin audience. This proved us that the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin should be an annual event in the future. The festival is organized by Aktion gegen den Hunger.
As a humanitarian and development organization, we contribute to change on two levels: With our projects in the areas of nutrition and health, water and hygiene, livelihoods and psychosocial aid, we support people in over 50 countries around the world and reach more than 21 million people every year. With our campaigning and public relations work, we provide people in Germany with an understanding of the everyday reality of our work and demonstrate ways of getting involved.
At the same time, we want to open up possibilities for new perspectives. This is where the Human Rights Film Festival comes into play. Because films are capable of creating an understanding for topics and regions that are geographically and culturally far removed from our own everyday lives – more than any other medium.
With this year’s festival edition we hope to offer you new food for thought, insights and inspiring moments.
