Project: My Voice - My Voice Against Climate Grief

My Voice – My Voice Against Climate Grief

Are you demonstrating against the climate crisis? Are you interested in climate protection measures, social engagement, and structural change? Every day, you encounter a flood of dystopian news and wonder: How do we as a society and as individuals deal with the pervasive feeling of climate anxiety? 75% of young people and young adults fear the climate crisis. What may initially seem paralyzing, we want to transform into productivity together with you. With "My Voice – My Voice Against Climate Grief" the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin offers you a platform to share your thoughts on climate anxiety and develop them under professional guidance.

Your perspective matters! Along with journalists, documentary filmmakers, and experts in creative writing, we invite you to our "Creative Lab" from October 13th to 15th, 2023, in Berlin! In this three-day, free workshop, you will collaborate with our experts to create a multimedia documentation that incorporates your thoughts, research, and demands regarding the climate crisis and climate anxiety, and brings them to the public. The results of your collaboration will be presented as part of the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin from October 11th to 22nd, 2023. Apply now until October 11th, 2023!

Interested young people and young adults between the ages of 16 and 35 can participate. Submitting an entry is not a requirement for attending the workshop.

FAQ & HOW TO GET GET INVOLVED

What is “My Voice – Meine Stimme gegen die Klimaangst?” about?

Seventy-five percent of adolescents and young adults are fearful of the climate crisis, with many experiencing grief, anger, and despair. Their daily lives, as well as their personal future plans, suffer as a result: Nearly half of those aged 16 to 25 are uncertain about whether they should have children due to the climate crisis. The high degree of psychological distress is primarily attributed to government inaction, with a large portion feeling betrayed by current governments and inadequately protected, both for themselves and for future generations. These findings stem from a study involving 10,000 respondents from ten different countries, published in 2021. These psychological consequences of the climate crisis are also referred to as "climate grief" or "climate anxiety."

With "My Voice - My Voice Against Climate Grief," the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin provides you with a platform to share your thoughts and experiences regarding climate anxiety and to develop them under the guidance of professional storytelling experts.
