After 50 years the military dictatorship in Myanmar is forced to let the Nobel Prize-winning democratic champion Aung San Suu Kyi, onto the political stage. 17 as the symbol of hope itself, Aung San Suu Kyi leaves the whole world baffled, when she ties too close of an alliance with her old enemies. The new head of state proves to be a master of cynical power games, as the film takes a dramatic turn with the massive ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya Muslim minority. The mask falls down, Aung San Suu Kyi stands now on the military’s side, her allies in government.
