Der schlimmste kommerzielle Atomunfall in der Geschichte der USA wurde zur größten Vertuschungsaktion des Landes. Immer wieder betonte die Atomindustrie: „Niemand ist zu Schaden gekommen.“ Vier Mütter wurden damals als „besorgte Hausfrauen” diffamiert, eine junge Journalistin geriet ins radioaktive Kreuzfeuer und zwei Anwältinnen brachten den Fall der örtlichen Gemeinde schließlich bis vor den Obersten Gerichtshof. Heute erzählen sie ihre Geschichten über den Unfall von Three Mile Island. Und obwohl sich diese Katastrophe 1979 ereignete, sind die körperlichen und politischen Auswirkungen auf die Gemeinde, ihre Bewohner*innen und ihre Nachkommen noch immer präsent. Eine neue, radikale Gesundheitsstudie könnte nun endlich die Wahrheit über die Kernschmelze ans Licht bringen.

Heidi Hutner, Award-Winning Director, Writer, and Producer, is an Award-Winning Professor of Environmental Humanities and Ecofeminism at Stony Brook University, and a scholar of nuclear and environmental history, literature, film, ecofeminism. She is the winner of Sierra Club Long Island's 2015 Environmentalist of the Year Award, and the Godfrey teaching award in 2023. Hutner chaired the Sustainability Studies Program for six years. Hutner is a widely published author on nuclear, environmental justice, and ecofeminist issues. She is in development for several new ecofeminist and environmental justice film projects. RADIOACTIVE: The Women of Three Mile Island is Hutner's first film.
